CNG has a Distribution System Already in Place that is 1000 times more extensive than that used for petroleum products. Mega tanker ships transport oil from the Middle East. Tanker trucks transport 99% of the gasoline and diesel fuel that we consume at the pump. That itself contributes over 22% of price we pay at the pump, not to mention the danger. The transportation costs associated with CNG are almost fixed. Natural gas is distributed nationwide through an extensive network of pipelines, which feed electrical generation plants and domestic and industrial heating uses. Thus, the use of natural gas in vehicles is “piggybacking” on many years of infrastructure development.

PERFORMANCE in regards to CNG is not a problem. CNG is approximately 130 octane. Racing fuels are about approximately 110 octane. The octane in regular gasoline that most of our vehicles run on is 85. In fact, the world land speed record was set by “Blue Flame”, a natural gas vehicle on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah on October 28, 1970. The Blue Flame’s record of 630.478 mph, lasted for 13 years.

CNG is a LOW COST FUEL or it should be. In Utah, as of 07/14/08, CNG is $.85 a gallon statewide; yes, that’s .85 cents! In many other states CNG is as high as $3.75 a gallon. Utah, Oklahoma and a couple of other states regulate their natural gas. If Utah were not regulated, we also would be paying about $.50 a gallon less than gasoline, which has been where the petroleum companies and profiteers have pegged CNG’s price in many other states. In the past 20 years a few petroleum companies, like Clean Energy, have gone around the country and bought up many of the natural gas suppliers and distributors, in effect, destroying any competition.

The federal government currently allows a $.50 per gallon excise tax credit to all states dispensing CNG for vehicles. From the pricing differences, it’s easy to recognize which states are passing that money on to the consumer ( as is the case with Questar and Oklahoma Natural Gas ) and which distributors are gouging the consumer. Also note that under the 2005 congressional energy bill which provided these incentives, the .50 cent tax credit is offset by the same 18 cent tax excise tax which is paid at the pump for gasoline and diesel (until then CNG, LNG, LPG and other alternative fuels were not subject to paying this “road tax”). So the net effect is approximately .32 cents per gasoline gallon equivalent (GGE). This credit is also available to non-taxpaying entities such as local governments and school districts, etc. So we have the interesting situation where many of these entities that are using alternative fuels now are filing for the credit with the IRS, where previously they had no dealings with the IRS whatsoever.

The price of regular gasoline is approximately $4.00 a gallon. The price for CNG is $.85 a gallon in Utah. So the ratio is approximately 5 to 1. So, in terms of the money paid, gasoline costs 5 times more than natural gas, which means that a Ford Crown Victoria that averages 25 mpg gets the financial equivalent of 5 x 25 or 125 mpg on average or in other words, it’s like paying the normal price for gasoline, but getting 125 miles per gallon. Now, that’s my kind of GREEN$$

Givens wants people to comprehend they do have rights, and that some of the new approaches may be illegal. “If you are in debt, know that there is a federal law that puts limits on the kinds of communications that debt collectors can have and it pays to really be informed,” Givens advised.

Debt collectors can use references on credit applications and other paperwork to find people you know. You may have used them as references to secure loans or credit. Collectors can ask them where YOU are. But they don’t have to give that information up. And they should know, collectors cannot ask your friends to pay the debt for you.”A collection situation is never easy for a consumer to deal with,” advised Ken Paterson, who is with the Credit Advisory Service.

Paterson said people should also know their own loan companies may act as collectors. Okay, first we’re gonna start off with something fairly simple: GPTs or “Get-Paid-To’s”. GPT’s are websites that promote themselves as paying you to try products for free. That’s not totally true. More accurately they are websites that are clearing houses for products which will pay you more than you’ll spend to try the assorted “free” trials these companies are offering. Basically it works like this…

Company A has an affiliate program, whereby if GPT webmaster can get someone to sign up for their product, they’ll pay GPT webmaster x amount (say $50 dollars). The owners of the GPTs then pay out (again, round numbers) $25 to you, the person who signed up for the offer. Maybe the offer is Free, maybe the offer is $1.00, maybe it’s simply the cost of shipping & handling, something as nominal as $1.97 or as much as $9.95.

Whatever the case, these sites operate off the principle that they will pay you anywhere from 2x to 10x your initial investment. Aside from offers, however, they also have “surveys” and “sign-ups” which can be as brief as a few seconds filling in your e-mail address to as time consuming as a couple minutes answering questions such as yearly household income, number of people in your house, if you own or rent, etc. Offers will pay as much as $20, $30, $40, $50, sometimes $80 + dollars, whereas surveys and sign-ups pay AT MOST $5.00.

All right, with all that explanation out of the way, the question is - can you make a living doing offers on these sites and unfortunately the answer is ‘No.’ If it were ‘yes’ it’d be the most brain-dead form of income around and we could all go home. So no, GPTs will not bring in an extra couple thousand a month.

They do, however, serve as a good means by which to bring in an extra couple hundred a month (generally a lot of work at home moms who want some extra spending money frequent these sites). This can be useful if your goal is to pay down debt, keep the creditors at bay for another 30 days, or just have extra walking around money.

Just being aware of these sites, however, is not good enough. As I noted earlier, GPTs are essentially affiliates bunching all their affiliate programs into one site and making it work as a sort of shopping mall. And much as the stores in every shopping mall across America are pretty much the same collection of fifty or so outlets, so are GPTs collections of the same general group of offers. In other words, there are only a finite amount of offers you can do and cash you can make. This is where being a member of as many programs as possible doesn’t increase your chances of making more money, but rather, I feel, hurts it. I’ll explain in a minute.

I just want to touch upon this concept of there being “only a finite amount of offers” you can do. I’ve said this a few times, and while it’s true there is a sense of diminishing returns each time you go back to a GPT, the offers do cycle through and change as time goes on. As a rule though, you’ll generally be able to complete more offers then the site is able to update with. This means that in month 1 if you’re able to make $500 doing offers on the site, the next month may only hold $300 worth of possible earnings. The next month a little bit less, and the next month a little bit less. At a certain point you plateau.

Fortunately, there will also come a point where the old offers will be replaced by new ones and you’ll be able to have a big month of earnings again around the $500 mark. The point is while they can make you money, GPTs are neither stable, nor consistent, nor dependable.

So, are these sites even worth doing? Yes. The real question is how can you get the most out of them. Well, Stay Tuned for my next post, when I’ll address some of those concerns. Until then, check out two GPTs which I consider two of the best in the industry…

If you don’t want to do it yourself, you may find a demolition contractor who will just do the tear down part. A better solution is to get some buddies you know to do it. There is nothing most guys like better than tearing things down. Just keep your hand in it so they do not get too carried away. Renovating your bath can turn out to be a great learning experience to use on future projects, so don’t be afraid to step outside the box and try new things to achieve your goal.

The best way to learn is to do, but you should also read and research the latest methods in renovation. Learning to use power tools will be a great boon to the project,and they are usually very easy to use since today’s safety regulations make them so safe. If you understand the basic concepts of construction, you will be able to tear down the bathroom and start from scratch.

You may have big dreams about the bathroom, but you also have to be practical and make sure you can achieve your dreams within your budget. Price out the main items such as the fixtures, lighting and furnishings. Once you have the most expensive items covered, you can allocate funds for the decorating items according to the style you want to achieve.

Be practical and realistic; this is not a project you are going to be able to do overnight or even over the weekend.
