Is there a bedbug infestation in your house? Hiring an exterminator can solve your problem. But if you want to get rid of the bebugs on your own, you can do so. Just be patient because you will have to repeat the process to make sure that you got rid of the bedbugs for good.
The first step is identifying the area of infestation. Inspect each room in your house. And inspect the carpet, mattresses, drawers, furnitures, linens, picture frames, and others. You have to inspect every inch of space. You must also inspect every crack and hole on the wall or on the floor. All of these are possible habitats of bedbugs!
The next steps to getting rid of bedbugs are by thoroughly scrubbing and vacuuming each infested area. Scrub with a stiff toothbrush to dislodge eggs.
After that, you must throughly vacuum everything. Do not forget to seal the vacuum bag inside a plastic bag. All cracks and holes must be sealed as well.
If clothes and bed linens were infested, you must wash these in hot water to kill the bedbugs.
You must use a pesticide for the walls, mattress, carpets, furnitures, and others. Make sure that you buy one that is for bedbugs. Remember to read the product label and instructions very well. Every pesticide has a specific way of applying it. You must also be very careful not to ingest the pesticide because this is poisonous. Apply the pesticide properly. Some brands also need to be vacuumed after application.
Do you have a plastic mattress cover? You must use this in getting rid of bedbugs. Seal your mattress inside the plastic cover. This way, if any bedbug or egg is still alive inside the mattress, the insect will no longer be able to reach you for food. Bedbugs die in 6 to 12 months if these are not able to eat.
In order to be very sure that you got rid of the bedbugs for good, you must check your house regularly for bedbug infestation.
